I'm a graduate student at Tech, I have two dogs who I love to pieces, friends I love to pieces (usually), I'm pretty happy with my life except that I lack a special someone. This doesn't really make or break my life, but I figured it can't hurt to look here. And talking to strangers is kind of fun.

I have my hands full of friends right now, but if I met someone who seemed befriendable (probably not an actual word), sure.

I'm from a completely normal family, meaning none of us ever talked while I was growing up except to say "everything's fine!" which, luckily for us, was usually the case. Early on my dad thought I was going to be an actor, probably due to the fact that at every family gathering I demanded to be the center of attention, even if it meant vomiting on his tie when I was three because he tickled me too much (a fact I have never, ever lived down). In addition to the aforementioned vomiting, I managed to eat a small tub of vaseline, slice my lower lip open while "shaving" with my dad's razor, and wedge one of my mother's hard contact lenses below my left eyelid. By the time I was eight, the doctors at the local ER knew me by name.

After barely surviving childhood, I became an adolescent fraught with the usual angst, moodiness, and terrible taste in music. Then came college, more angst, moodiness, and slightly less terrible taste in music. And also a b.a. in English and a master's in education. And also marijuana smoked out of an apple core as the first of two drug experiences.

Amid all this growing up, there were occasional bouts of intelligence, Calvin and Hobbes, many, many movies, hamsters, a love of writing, pseudo-outdoorsmenesque behavior, great friendships, failed romances, and several pantloads of laughter.

Well, I'm 23 years old. I live in Christiansburg, just bought my first house. A townhouse, but still. I work for an oral surgeon's office in Blacksburg where I do check-in and collections. :)

I'm not a big party animal and I don't really put up with people who try to force me to party. If I want to go out, I will. My life does not revolve around being in a bar or getting drunk. Although I do enjoy those nights every so often, fewer now that I've gotten a "real" job.

I was born and grew up in a small town in central Maine. Six years ago I moved to western upstate New York for college. After graduating, I decided to pursue graduate school which has brought me to Virginia.
I tend to have a relaxed attitude. By this i mean that I very rarely get stressed out or truly angry.
When I comes my my hobbies, I don't enjoy partying on the weekends (or during the week). Currently most of my free time is spent fencing (as in the Olympic sport, not trying to reenact medieval combat). I learned to fence almost 6 years ago. Although I took a hiatus for a year, I picked it back up after moving to Virginia. I also enjoy going to shows (music). However, there aren't a lot of bands I like playing in Blacksburg.
Possibly the one hobby I spend more time on then fencing is cooking. I enjoy cooking things from the very simple like mac 'n' cheese to more complicated dishes such as risotto.

Here's a good way of looking at me... I play Guitar Hero cuz it's fun - what can I say? I like guitar, I like games, I play both. Anyway. I think I'm good at it, but don't get high scores - because the fun, the challenge, comes from thinking on your toes. Hi! I went to VT for a vast number of years and now work as a Disgruntled Scientist (hence the username) in one of the labs on campus. I think a little more school and some form of teaching are in my future, but those plans need a little more thought. I have a golden retriever who is goofy as hell. I also have three cats. One of which adores the golden retriever and follows her around like a shadow. I also have another cat who has a love/hate relationship with the dog. I find it funny because the cat pops out at the dog and the dog bolts scared out of her wits. The third we refer to as the black dog because he acts like a dog even though hes a cat. He doesn't use the litter box, he likes to be let out to use the bathroom.

I guess I should also mention that I like to swim...a lot. Competitive swimming has been a huge part of my life. I enjoy the pool and laying out beside it. I work at one in the summers and love everything about working outside. I coach swim team as well. I am outside at the pool 24/7 in the summer. I always smell of chlorine in the summer, its my personal perfume.

If I could pick one place to live I would choose somewhere close to the water with a beautiful view.

I'm a big fan of computers (good thing your sitting down already) but I also like other stuff like frisbee, hacky sack, wardriving, the ever notoroius long walks on the moonlit beach, swimming, talking on aim, (sbdixson). But in general im a driven guy in a laid back way. i'm just a guy...an ooky spooky guy...but a guy nonetheless. i recently moved from california to Radford, Virginia - i was accepted into the MFA program at Radford University. considering i'm brand new to VA, it goes without saying i don't really know many people here, or much about the town itself. i hope to be extremely productive in the MFA program and eventually gain a new network of friends. my favorite pastimes are spending time with my friends and going to shows. going to a concert is the most gratifying thing i could possibly do; it's pretty much a religious experience for me. *DO NOT FUCK WITH MY SHOWS* the only thing i love more than art is my music - you should try it...really...it's better than what you listen to...

I'm a student at Radford University and am a philosophy major. As a philosophy major hoping to attend law school, ethics is definitely my forte. I like to ask people about their beliefs and why they think the way they do, although this sometimes gets me into trouble. People seem to have a hard time telling that I'm not trying to persecute them, nor am I trying to be disrespectful, but I'm merely figuring out how they tick. I think it is the mark of a healthy mind to not only know where you stand on an issue, but the reasons you have come to the the conclusions you have. It's actually kind of rare to find people that can sufficiently back up their own beliefs, which is kind of sad really.

I'm a very laid back, caring person. It takes a lot to rile me, but obsess over issues that I am passionate about. These include environmentalism , civil rights, rights of the accused, and free speech.

Right now I'm a student at NRCC and I'm trying to decide what to do with my life lol. I'm pretty laid back and I like to just chill and relax with friends when I'm not doing school work. Also I love mary jane, maybe a little too much but hey its better than a lot of other shit lol.

I am originally from Roanoke and that's my hometown, but for college i'm pretty much residing in Radford except during the summer.

But as for how i am.... I'm a bit of a slacker, I like to relax and enjoy my creature comforts. Of course, nothings more fun then getting together with friends and going for a drive. You never know what can happen. I can end up at a club, a coffee shop, a bonfire party can get started..... or in a basement on a couch, eating cheeto's playing sonic with my best friends. I enjoy random adventures, and the simple life at times back to back.

I've always held my friends to be the most important thing, and i put them first. The second is my individual identity and the preservation of it.

But sometimes I like a quiet life, being able to sit down with a book, or play some video games, or watch a crappy scifi movie. Either way i'm happy.

Still, i like to read and study the world and universe and the many complexities of it. The greatest thing to me is unbiased knowledge and being able to plunge into the mystery of anything and search for answers. Just being able to find one more little spark of magic in the world is my goal.

Of course, all goals mean nothing if there's no one to share it with whether it be a lover or a close friend.

I love new things, mysteries, dreams, ideas and concepts. I love talking about deeper thigs because i like to learn about things that are completely different from mainstream ideas and knowledge.

Also, I'm a bit of a Steelers and Packers fan, but otherwise i don't really care about sports. That doesn't matter to me. Hockey's fun to watch, but only in person.

I'm a pretty laid-back kinda guy, one of my favorite past-times is hanging out with my friends and watching movies or playing games. I just recently graduated from Radford University, and I'm still trying to figure out what to do next. I got my degree in Biology, because I've always thought that science was cool; and well, as my friends have put it, I'm a big nerd. I decided to stick around Radford after I graduated cause I thought this area was pretty cool, plus pretty much all my friends are here and it's about the biggest urban area i could make it in. Small town living is just hard-wired into me at this point.

I really enjoy reading, pretty much whenever I have a little bit of time. That's what i spend the vast majority of my free time doing. I absolutely love Wikipedia, I can spend hours looking up all kinds of random stuff. I enjoy watching some anime, but I haven't watched a whole lot of it.

I enjoy cooking, but my repertoire is fairly limited so I'm always excited to learn a good new dish.

I enjoy a few outdoor activities as well, target shooting and fishing are my favorites.

I definitely consider myself a gamer, be it videogames, boardgames, CCG's, or role-playing games like Dungeons & Dragons, I enjoy em all.
